West Granby With a View

This design was based on capturing the fantastic view the property has and incorporating the infinity edge pool into the slope.  The client entertains large parties so having a lot of patio space was important.  The large patio spaces around the pool are balanced by lawn areas for overflow and softened by plantings.

The biggest asset to this property was also the biggest challenge.  In order to address the large drop off the pool sits on, we terraced the hill with three big retaining walls made with boulders.  It was a bit of a challenge to fit the large excavator between the brand new pool and the cliff in order to reach the areas where the walls needed to be built.

The covered area contains a sitting area in front of a fire place, a full kitchen and a bar overlooking the view beyond the pool.  The structure has a knotty pine ceiling and a paver inlay in the floor.

We used our lighting demonstration kit to show the customer how dramatic the area could look at night and he felt it was an obvious choice to have us install it.

CLIENT COMMENTS

"We didn't want to let too much time pass before writing to you. We are so pleased with the patio and have already used it many times in the past few weeks. We always had a nice retreat in the woods - but now we are actually USING the space to read, cook and relax. Your team was a pleasure to work with on the project. Dave kept everything moving and we felt very well informed throughout the build. He went above and beyond to make sure that our property was well cared for and that the patio ultimately fit our vision. Jimmy was the other key component to the team. He is an extremely hard worker that was very dedicated to the project and easily served as our onsite contact when Dave was unavailable. We cannot compliment either of them enough! From the beginning, we have loved your vision for this project and we hope to work with you again in the future. Thank you for creating our new backyard oasis! It's perfect." Read more comments
